About Us

Peppermint Spring Farm is a small family-run farm located in south Lorane, OR acquired by the Archer family in 2021. With the exception of maintaining the flock of ducks we brought with us, we chose to spend the first year observing and learning about the land and its wildlife in order to choose farming activities that work in concert with it. To our surprise and delight the 'hay' field is full of Camas, there are multiple species of edible mushrooms growing in the woods, and the old fruit trees are still productive. We've now expanded our flock of ducks and added chickens, goats, vegetable plots, and an orchard.

Elk, coyote, bobcat, black bear, cougar, and deer are some of our largest frequent visitors. We also have several species of wild waterfowl who visit our pond, alongside less frequent sightings of beaver and otter. And, of course, songbirds, herons, owls, red-winged blackbirds, and more!

About Us: Our Farm

History

Our farm was first established in the mid-1880's by John Addison and family. The site was not only a farm but a lumber mill. While initially successful, it wasn't long before the mill had been disassembled and moved to southern Oregon. However, members of the Addison family remained and, while it has changed hands a few times, the farm has carried on. The photo on the right is John Addison and family (c. ~1885) shortly after construction on the house, which now serves as our residence, was finished.
